Dear Friends! I'd like to share my impressions in blog of the travel to seal pups!
By popular demand :)) It isn't easy to visit seal pups, if the weather is non-flying, one will ll have to postpone a trip, since the only way there is by helicopter. And at that one should find that very ice floe with animals. Every year seals give birth at the same place, but this year the situation changed. Even scientists can't explain why. As a result we found seals hundreds kilometers far from the place we had expected. By the way, I'd like to thank Leoind Lukin, he has been involved in learning all about Greenland seals for more than 40 years and helped us much in filming!
Calmness and silence on ice floe are impressive enough. I expected seal pups to lay in a herd, but vice verse they are separate. Several meters from each other. Firstly, I was afraid of walking about the ice, moreover, it's inhomogeneous with ruptures and thawed patches. But then everybody focused on seal pups and security questions passed. Actually they are fluffy, but not sleek! They have coarse hair for protect from frost. However, the worldly-wise recommend not to flatter them because they are put a strain on. One wish to take pity on them, they are always cheeping and calling their mums. We saw harrowing scene, the loudest seal pup, and maybe the hungriest one, was creeping to every female seal thinking it was it's mum. But she-seals feed only their children, they nose them out. Well, just imagine, baby reached out for the “mum”, but is kept off! Perhaps, it's enough, other details in the film :) I hope you'll like it.
