One the territory of the Republic of Bashkortostan lies a fascinating nature reserve – Shulgan-Tash. Here, an ancient folk trade is preserved – wild-honey farming. It’s been practiced in the South Urals for one and a half thousand years. This old form of bee-keeping focuses on keeping the bees in their natural conditions and in artificial hollows in trees. Over 500 such hives are located on the territory of Shulgan-Tash.
RTG TV host Igor Maximenko not only learns about the work of the bee-keepers and what distinguishes wild bees from «tame» bees, he also visits a priceless natural and historical monument the famed Shulgan-Tash cave. He sees cave drawings and mysterious symbosl left by the inhabitants of the area from over 14,000 years ago.
